Description - What to expect

Start your Ice Doms tour from Tromsø city center on a 90-minute scenic bus drive to Camp Tamok, located in the beautiful Tamok Valley. At the camp, you will find traditional and rustic Northern Norwegian buildings: several lavvus, timber cabins, and Arctic glamping tents, shower and toilet facilities, as well as a husky kennel and reindeer camp.

Upon arrival at Tromsø Ice Domes, a host will welcome you and take you on an entertaining journey through its magical rooms. Each year, the snow and ice sculptures portray typical Northern Norwegian themes such as the Northern Lights, Sami culture and Arctic animals. They are beautifully displayed inside the domes with special light effects creating magical scenes. You will learn about the construction process of the domes, the impact the snow has on all life in the Arctic and have a non-alcoholic ice shot at the ice bar.

As part of this guided tour, there will be some free time to walk around by yourself and visit the reindeer that are herding next to the Ice Domes. After your visit with the reindeer, we will serve a traditional Norwegian soup or stew and hot drinks inside the domes.

After your visit to the Ice Domes, there will be some time in between: “camp stay”, for you to enjoy all facilities at the camp freely. After this free period of approximately 4 hours, we will begin the preparations for your next adventure: the evening activity of your choice. Choose between: Snowmobiling, Reindeer sledding, Northern Lights and dog sledding experience. (please tell us your preferred choice during the booking)

When returning to Camp Tamok after your evening activity, there will be some time to relax and warm up as we are serving dinner around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After dinner, your full day at Camp Tamok & Tromsø Ice Domes has come to an end, and it is time to head back by bus to Tromsø city center.
