Description - What to expect
Join this captivating Crete hiking experience and climb the Gigilos Peak at 2080 m to enjoy amazing panoramic views of Crete including Chania and Rethymnon.Gigilos Peak is one of the 52 peaks of the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) and it will take you 5-6 hours to climb and return to the starting point at Xyloskalo 1250m. You will follow a path leading up towards the rockiest part of the mountains in the White Mountains. After an hour's pleasant hike, reach the freshwater springs of Linoseli, where according to mythology the God ZEUS comes to to drink water!
Have some rest and fill your water bottles before continuing to the ridge between Gigilos Peak and Psilafi. From the height of 1700 meters, enjoy the views of the south and north coast as well as the north and central part of the White Mountains. After some more hiking, you will finally arrive at the summit of Gigilos to enjoy some of the best panoramic views in Crete.
