Description - What to expect

Start your Sofia Mountain bike adventure with a convenient pick-up from your hotel and drive for about 90 minutes to reach the Dragoman area. You will start riding through a forest and then to an open ground dominated by grass and stones. The ride to the top of Chepun will last approximately 90 minutes. The peak is called Petrovski krust, and there you can see the remains of an ancient Thracian temple and a chapel, dedicated to st. Peter. The mountain was a sacred place for the people between the Late Iron Age and the Early Middle Ages. At the top you can rest that you have brought with you.

From the top of Petrovski Krust ride over stones and reach the village of Golemo Malovo. You will pass the marshes of Aldomirovtsi, a protected area for the nesting of many birds like the ruff, little gull, white stork, and great crested grebe. Continue riding between historic hills where Bulgarian soldiers defended the Unification of Bulgaria in 1885. Below the Popov peak, you will stop to visit the abandoned monastery of Saint Nicola, dated in the XIX century. From there you will reach the village of Golemo Malovo. You will pass an old airfield and the marshes of Dragoman and if you are lucky, you’ll see some endemic species, which you can see only in Bulgaria and the Balkan peninsula. At this point, your Sofia Mountain bike adventure comes to an end and you will be transported back to Sofia.
