Description - What to expect
Mount Olympus Hiking ItineraryDay 1: MEETING WITH GUIDE, WALK FROM PRIONIA TO REFUGE A
In the morning we drive to Prionia the starting point for this Mount Olympus hiking experience. We start our climbing on the mountain of Gods and up to 2.200 meters passing through a forest of “Abies”. From that height on the forest becomes rarer and the only tree that remains is the “Pinus heldreichii”. Lunch, dinner & overnight in the refuge Spilios Agapitos.
Day 2: REFUGE TO THE PEAKS OF Mt.OLYMPUS – MUSES PLATEAU
Today you are going to climb the most famous peaks of the Mountain of Gods up to 2.911 meters. Then hike under the impressive high cliffs of Mitikas (2918m) and Stefani (2909m) towards the plateau of the Muses, and overnight in the small refuge “Kakalos”, named after the first Greek who ascended Mitikas in 1913. Dinner & overnight stay in the refuge.
Day 3: MUSES PLATEAU - GORTZIA
Continue your Mount Olympus hiking with an impressive walk on the North side of the mountain. Hike on alpine terrain, ridges and dense pine forest, before reaching the location of Gortzia where your Mount Olympus hiking adventure comes to an end. From there you will be transported back to the town of Litochoro.
