Description - What to expect

Masai Mara Safari Itinerary

◾ Day 1: Wilson Airport to Masai Mara Airstrips
Your Masai Mara Safari starts with a pick-up from Jomo Kenyatta International airport or your centrally located hotel in Nairobi. You will depart for Maasai Mara Airstrip via Wilson Airport in Nairobi. On arrival, and after you settle you will embark on a game drive with experienced trackers, before retiring to your luxury accommodation overlooking the Mara River at the Fairmont Mara Safari Club. Listen to the animals in the night and enjoy the complete serenity of the wilderness.

◾ Day 2: Masai Mara Game Safari
Your day two Masai Mara Safari will be spent on game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife park, the Masai Mara National Reserve. You will go on game drives both in the morning and in the afternoon in search of Africa’s Big Five and the overabundance of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve. On clear days, the Mara offers fantastic orange-tinged sunset’s well-worth capturing on camera. The Mara reserve is 1510 km² of incredible wide-open landscapes and fertile riverine woodland following the looping meanders of the Mara and Talek rivers in Kenya. One glimpse is enough to explain its appeal; it is typical open savannah, with a mass of amazing wildlife.

During your Masai Mara Safari, you will encounter a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat-eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal or surveying the plains for their next kill. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but reasonably common.

The ultimate action here is, without doubt, the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lusher grass before turning south again in October. Hot-air balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way of seeing the savannah plains teeming with wildlife. These Masai Mara balloon trips can be arranged at extra cost.

◾ Day 3: Day at Leisure
During your third day in Masai Mara follow a more relaxed itinerary including another game drive or alternatively choose to participate in optional activities like a hot air balloon ride over the savannah or visit a Masai village and have first-hand authentic interaction with the famous African tribe learning about their lifestyle and deep-rooted culture.

◾ Day 4: Masai Mara Airstrip to Wilson Airport
This is your departure day. After breakfast, you will be driven to the Mara Airstrip to board your plane and fly back to Wilson airport in Nairobi, full of memories and unforgettable experiences. From Wilson airport, you will then be transported to your hotel or accommodation in central Nairobi.
