Description - What to expect

Your Cairo to Abu Simble tour starts very early in the morning with your guide picking you up from your hotel lobby in Cairo and driving you to the airport to catch the early morning flight to Aswan. Once you arrive, you will be driven to Abu Simbel, perhaps the most magnificent site of ancient Egypt and one of the most celebrated tourist attractions in the country.

Explore the great sun temple of king Ramses II, and the Temple of Queen Nefertari discovered in 1813 wholly covered until then with sand. These massive rock temples are considered the most magnificent and beautiful temples commissioned during Ramses’ reign and some of the most fascinating in Egypt. This impressive site is located on the western banks of the Nile and was dedicated to Ramses II and his queen Nefertari.

Learn from your guide interesting historical facts and why gigantic statues were dismantled and relocated in the 1960s to avoid flooding by the rising Nile river after the building of the Aswan High Dam was completed and the massive Lake Nasser was created. While on the site, you will also have the opportunity to explore several other temples located in the area.
