Description - What to expect

Take a full-day tour from Porto and visit the city of Aveiro also known as the "Venice of Portugal," because of its water channels that access the city from the river. When you arrive in Aveiro, start your tour from Costa Nova, next to the seaside, to admire the iconic houses full of colored stripes. Continue your tour with a visit to Barra's beach and learn from your guide the intriguing history of the place.

Your tour will continue with a visit to the city center to admire the 15th-century cathedral, the old train station, and the famous fish market. Finish your tour of Aveiro with a boat trip through the city's water channels on a typical "moliceiro" boat.

After lunch, head towards Coimbra, the so-called "City of Knowledge." This city of Coimbra was the birthplace of six Portuguese kings and once the capital of Portugal. Take time to visit the 13th-century first Portuguese university and the cathedral and walk on the narrow alleys of the medieval city center. Before you start your journey back, take the opportunity to visit the 12th-century Santa Cruz church, where the tomb of the first Portuguese king lies.
