Overview
Combine your stay in a beautiful and comfortable lodge with a daily horse riding program near Hersonissos in Crete. Guests who choose this horse riding holiday should have some previous experience or are keen to learn. They should be used to ride in the countryside and must be fit enough to ride between 2 and 3 hours a day. There are lots of hills and rough terrain in Crete. Riders should be able to mount and dismount by themselves and should be sure-footed also. Riders are encouraged to catch, groom and tack up their horse by themselves. But there is always someone around who can lend a hand!
About the property
The Arion Stables is located in the middle of an olive grove, 2 km away from the beach of Analipsi village, and 7 km from the city center of Hersonissos. It’s a tranquil place and an ideal destination for a relaxing time. The accommodation consists of four new-build apartments, each featuring two bedrooms, able to accommodate four guests, a big bathroom with a shower, a leather furnished living room, and a fully equipped kitchen. Café-bar and restaurant are available on the ground floor for breakfast and meals.Between the paddocks and the main building, you can find a beautiful green garden to relax and enjoy the sun during summer or even during the Cretan mild winter while watching the farm activities.

Optional things-to-do/Activities
Horses and ridingAll horses are schooled in English and western riding on the Arion Stables, where we develop a closeness and trust between horse and rider. Safety is our top priority and we can only offer this if we can trust our horses. The horses are first trained to recognize body language, the horse is then walked without rider behind the more experienced and adult horses so they are never pressured or nervous. After a time the horse is introduced to saddle and then the rider. It is also very important to accustom the horses to everyday noises and distractions like traffic for example.
The horses are trained daily with regular treks through the olive fields, mountainous countryside and along the beaches and water, to maintain their sure-footedness and excellent condition. Ten horses are available for our guests to ride. The western-style saddle gives the utmost comfort and safety to horse and rider alike on a long day treks. Depending on the condition of the ground we walk, trot or canter. You will always be accompanied by one of our experienced guides on all rides.
There is no riding on your arrival and departure days!
