About the area

Explore South Africa's third-largest National park, the Addo elephant national park, a malaria-free and diverse wildlife conservation park located close to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) in the Eastern Cape, offering expansive grounds, lush vegetation, and unsurpassed views of the continent’s most iconic wildlife.

The Addo elephant park is a growing and flourishing National park with five distinct biomes, from sweeping grasslands to dense thickets, allowing it to sustain a wide variety of wildlife. The sought-after Big 5 and an abundance of other wildlife can be found with 13 species of antelope, over 400 cape buffalo, and a variety of birds. Plus, get the chance to see the unique and rare Addo flightless dung beetle.

Aside from the elephant herds in the 1640 square kilometer park, other animals include lions the sorely endangered black rhinos, zebra, black-backed jackets, bat-eared foxes, an abundance of birds, ostriches, and many more.

The Addo Elephant Park is the only park in the world to boast of having "the Big 7" - lion, leopard, black rhino, Addo elephant, cape buffalo, great white shark, and southern right whale. The marine section of the Addo Elephant National Park can be accessed with a chartered boat vessel, that will take you past the nearby Islands.
