Description - What to expect
Your Athens off-road to Parnitha National Park and Mpafi refugee starts with a convenient pick-up from your hotel. Follow the national road that leads to Thrakomakedones village. From there begin to ascent the mountain, against a spectacular backdrop of Attica and shimmery strips of the sea. While driving along the pine and arbutus forest watch out for red deer and Kri-Kri wild goats, climbing sheer cliffs.Stop in the middle of the forest for your first break, in the so-called “Park of Souls” for some relaxing time before continuing until you reach the picturesque chapel of Holy Trinity, built during the Byzantine era next to a spring, where red deer find refugee for relaxation and drinking water.
Continue your drive until you reach your final destination, the Mpafi mountain refugee, located in the heart of the mountain. The place is best known for its hospitality and its good service, offering spectacular views of the Attica plain in the distance. Take in the unparallel beauty of the dense fir forest and feel rejuvenated.
There will be enough time for you to enjoy a fresh coffee or herbal tea with a snack either in the backyard with breathtaking views or by the fireplace in the saloon on the colder days of the year. After your break, hop on your jeep for your return trip to Athens, once again following a gorgeous road through the dense fir forest.
