Description - What to expect

Madagascar Tour Itinerary



◾ DAY 1: Arrival at Antananarivo

Upon your arrival at Ivato international airport, receive a warm welcome from our representative, and get a transfer to your hotel to rest and prepare for your adventure.



◾ DAY 2: Antananarivo - Antisirabe

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to Antsirabe, the water city of Madagascar. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of the impressive rice fields in steps and the tombs of the Highlands of Madagascar. Stop in Ambatolampy to visit a traditional workshop manufacturing aluminum pots. In the afternoon you will arrive in Antsirabe. Enjoy a stroll in this beautiful City of Waters and visit some Malagasy craft workshops.



◾ DAY 3: Antsirabe - Morondava

After breakfast at your hotel, depart for the seaside town of Morondava, situated on the west coast of Madagascar. The city is famous for the so-called "Avenue of the Baobabs". These impressive ancient Baobab trees create an enchanting spectacle at sunrise and sunset. You must not miss the opportunity to visit Morondava’s local market for some fine locally made textiles and other Malagasy handicrafts.



◾ DAY 4: Morondava - Bekopaka

After an early breakfast at your hotel, depart to Bekopaka town riding on a dirt road. Transfers to the ferry on Belo Sur Tsiribihina. Then continue to Bekopaka to arrive late in the afternoon.



◾ DAY 5: Bekopaka

After your breakfast at the hotel, depart for a 4-hour visit to Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park. The park is known for its unique geology boasting forests of ‘tsingy’, which are spiky limestone karst creating an impressive and unusual landscape. The place is also famous for its virgin woodlands, mangroves, and lakes abundant with the wildlife of almost 100 different bird species. In the afternoon, you will have the chance to visit the Small Tsingy.



◾ DAY 6: Bekoraka - Morondava

After breakfast, depart early to return to Belo sur Tsiribihina. Then transfer by ferry to Tsimafana and from there follow the road back to Morondava. You will have the opportunity to admire the famous baobab avenue and the baobab in love. You will arrive in Morondava at the end of the afternoon.



◾ DAY 7: Morondava - Antsirabe

Continue your Madagascar tour again to the highlands of the island. Arrive in Antsirabe at the end of the afternoon. Antsirabe is a city rivaling in infrastructure that of the capital. The city features large restaurants and all modern amenities. On the outskirts, is located the volcanic Lake Tritriva open to visitors.



◾ DAY 8: Antisirabe - Ambositra - Ranomafana

After an early morning visit to the Avenue of Antsirabe, head towards Ambositra, the capital of Malagasy crafts and wood carving. You will have the opportunity to visit some craft shops in the city and have a close look at their impressive exhibits. Continue your tour traveling to Ranomafana. Along the way, admire the characteristic architecture of Betsileo ethnic group.



◾ DAY 9: Ranomafana- Fianarantsoa

Next to your Madagascar tour, visit the Ranomafana National Park to discover the famous Malagasy fauna and its renowned lemurs and chameleons, not to mention the typical birds of the country. The visit lasts approximately four hours. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the capital of the Betsileo ethnic group, Fianarantsoa, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. In the afternoon spent time visiting the city and its historical monuments.



◾ DAY 10: Fianarantoa - Ranohira

Continue your Madagascar tour departing for the Ambalavao to visit the workshop paper-making Antemoro and silk. Then visit the private reserve Anja in Iaritsena for admiring the famous lemur catta. We continue to Ranohira through Ihosy, the town of Bara ethnic. Arrive at the end of the afternoon in Ranohira.



◾ DAY 11: Ranohira

Visit the National Park of Isalo to admire impressive fauna and flora with beautiful, extraordinary landscapes, wild rock formations, awesome gorges, and valleys. There are more than 500 species of plants and approximately 80 species of birds to be spotted in the lush forests. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to enjoy and swim in the natural swimming pool inside the national park. Watch the sunset in the famous window of Isalo.



◾ DAY 12: Ranohira - Tulear - Ifaty

Depart to explore the south of Madagascar. View of the first south baobab tree. Admire the arid landscape and tombs of the Mahafaly ethnic group. Stop in the national park Zombitse Vohibasia to see the southern baobabs. Then, continue to Ifaty, the famous fishermen's village, to visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the south of the island.



◾ DAY 13: Ifaty

Take a day off to enjoy and relax in this serene seaside resort. Don't miss the opportunity to swim and snorkel in the crystalline waters or take a boat trip to explore the seashore.



◾ DAY 14: Ifaty - Tulear - Antananarivo (Domestic flight)

On the last day of your tour, drive to Tulear airport for your domestic flight back to the capital. Here is another chance to see the beautiful city and discover some of its hidden gems.



◾ DAY 15: Antananarivo - Departure day

After breakfast, we take you to the impressive crafts market for last-minute gift shopping. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight full of memories and pictures from beautiful Madagascar to take with you.
