Description - What to expect
You start our 4-hour tour including a 30-minute boat ride from Mykonos to Delos. Your guide will meet you at the port and will stay with you all along the tour providing you with introductory information about the sacred island of Delos. You will start your guided tour by walking through the Theater District admiring its well-preserved marble columns and wall paintings of the house of Dionysus and that of Cleopatra. Then, proceed to the ancient Theatre and marvel at the gigantic Public Cistern.Follow the so-called Sacred Way that will lead you to the Sanctuary of Apollo where you can see the ruins of the temple and what remains of his huge statue. Continue your tour by visiting the Sacred Lake, where according to mythology Apollo and Artemis were born. Facing the lake you can admire the magnificent Lions of Delos, the most famous landmark of the island.
Your tour will end with a visit to the archaeological museum. Marvel at exhibits of the island’s major historical periods discovered since the excavations started in 1893. Before you depart to the port to catch up the boat back to Mykonos you will still have time to further explore the museum and do your souvenirs shopping in the museum shop.
